Week 6
This week, I learned more about Google Ads. I am still learning, but I think I have a good list of keywords for my business so far. I learned that keywords should generally be specific and descriptive of your product, service, or business. You can include some broader keywords, but they should not be too broad otherwise you will be paying for people to come to your website that do not want what you are selling. On the other hand, you do not want your keywords to be too specific or you will not get enough people seeing your ad.
I thought that learning about negative keywords was
interesting. A negative keyword is a word you do not want your ad to show up
for. For example, if you are selling portrait paintings, you could put landscape
as a negative keyword, since you do not sell landscapes. So, if someone searched
for landscape paintings for sale, your ad would not show up.
Another thing I learned this week is to make sure your
website host subscription includes Google Ads credits if Google Ads is what you
are going to use. The host I chose just said advertising credits, but did not
specify Google or Bing Ads. So far, I have only found Bing Ads credits. One
good thing is Google gives $100 after you spend $25, so I will still get Google
Ads credits, just not more than Google alone offers. The Bing credit will help
me though, because I also learned that using Google Ads is just a start; I
should use multiple sources to increase my customer network.
